Introduction
The Coaching and Mentoring Skills for Managers workshop looks at coaching and mentoring as an individually-focused, personal development tool you can offer staff at all organisational levels. It examines the difference between coaching and mentoring, the skills required to become a good coach or mentor, when and how to introduce coaching and mentoring and how to keep them on the development agenda. It will also help you develop a strategy for structuring a session and to recognise when it is time to withdraw from a coaching or mentoring relationship. The workshop also discusses how you should receive ongoing support as a Coach or Mentor.
This workshop is limited to a maximum of 15 delegates to ensure that our experienced trainer has the time to assist you with any personal complex points that may arise during the day.

Delivery Methodology
- Simulation – providing life-like scenarios through structured learning experiences and to improve business awareness and management skills.
- Role Play – acting-out situations in groups, under the supervision and feedback of a lead coach.
- Presentations, Videos and Video Recording – visual materials to support presentations of theory.
- Games – learning is fun with Solid State Training Solutions! Using a variety of tools and games to emphasize the learning experience.
- Discussions – use two-way communication between the trainer and the trainees to increase learning opportunities.
- Questionnaires – to gather information from the participants, attributed or anonymous, free-form questions and multiple-choice.
- Case Study Analysis – a key tool for such workshops, either individuals or groups review the materials provided to understand a key message and then present their findings to the other participants.
Organizational Impact
Coaching and mentoring involve pairing experienced professionals with employees that could use help adapting to the environment and culture of the workplace. This can include pairing a mentor with new employees to help them settle into the surroundings and get off to a good start. Coaching often comes in play when a new employee or current employee can benefit from personal guidance on specific job duties, processes or responsibilities.
